| In 2007,
Excavations Lafontaine Inc provided work for 150 people within several firmly interlinked departments, each
contributing in its unique way to the company's success.
Project estimation and management
Consisting of nine experienced people, under the
supervision of Guy Lachance ing, engineers and
civil engineering technicians, our team is one of the
most experienced among companies within the same line
of business in the Quebec region.
The targeted and completed projects are divided into
three business lines - earthwork, municipal engineering,
and industrial and commercial sector.
Job sites
Our site management personnel, i.e. fourteen people including
the director of operations, superintendents, and foremen,
mostly consist of civil engineering technicians, which
enable us to efficiently deal with the increasingly-technical
work requirements. They are joined by a six
people support team that ensures proper supply of site equipment,
heavy equipment, and labour necessary for efficient
contract execution.
Our land survey teams ensure rigorous monitoring of
work layout while controlling accuracy.
The site operational personnel, bringing together up
to 80 workers, consist of highly qualified and motivated
heavy equipment operators, specialized labourers, and
truck drivers. They work within smoothly-running teams
and show their experience and efficiency in a mutual
aid environment, as demonstrated by the slogan posted
in our site offices, "Une équipe ça
s’entraide" (A team helps each other).
Mechanical maintenance workshop
Under supervision of a garage manager, thirteen workers
are comprised in the mechanical maintenance team, consisting
of purchaising agent, mechanics, welders, or painters
that share day and evening shifts so to ensure maximum
equipment availability and constant site productivity.
A mobile workshop helps execute periodic maintenance
and some minor repair work on site, thus increasing
efficiency.
Administration
The administration-appointed team consists of eight
people holding the following positions: chief executive
officer, controller, administrative assistant, quality
coordinator, accounts payable, computer technician, accounts receivable,
payroll, human resources, and reception.
Their concern is to ensure that all management processes
established by the company are rigorously applied, examined
from time to time, and able to provide the information,
controls, and results necessary for its progress, both
on the financial and pursuit-of-excellence levels.
